St John's Hill Windfarm Rejected

Following last week's site visit, the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee voted against the plan to build a windfarm behind Kinneff by 7 votes to 4 at their meeting yesterday, on the grounds that the visual impact would be too great.

No Windfarm - thank goodness

Delighted the windfarm has NOT been approved. It was never a nice thing to destroy the lives of many homeowners for the sake of a financial profit. There are many other suitable locations for windmills that don't ruin lives. It states under the title of this article that the development was rejected purely on visual impact , however this is not the whole truth, but rather a biased descriptor created by our webmaster (Stephen) who was in favour of the development, and who wishes to make the decision sound like a poor one from ignorant councillors who are stuck in the past. As I understand it, the developers took more than just visual impact into acount. They also looked at the effect on nearby residences, the knock-on effect for further applications, the history and heritage of the area, the industialisation of the area, the environmental impact, to name but a few. This decision is a victory for common sense, concern, and decency over greed. You don't see this happen often, and those against the development should rejoice in this victory.

Thanks for your input

Thanks for giving more background to the rejection reasons, Ali. I'm not that involved, so I wasn't fully aware of the ins and outs. The original posting was only a precis of what I'd read in the P&J this morning, which until your posting was the only source of information I had.

I'd have liked to have been at the area committee meeting yesterday, but unfortunately it wasn't possible. Did you attend? If so, perhaps you'd like to write up a report from your perspective?

Writing a report? Moi?

Stephen - I'll get back to you once I've finished this bottle of Moët & Chandon Dom Pérignon.

Cheers!!
