Public exhibition for Hillhead of Auquhirie Wind Farm

The Auquhirie Land Company will be holding a public exhibition in Kinneff Hall to allow everyone to find out more about their plans for 3 wind turbine at Hillhead of Auquhirie.

The exhibition will be help from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday 7^th May.

St John's Hill Appeal Upheld

The Scottish Executive have overturned Aberdeenshire Council's rejection of the St John's Hill wind farm.

The developers appealed against Aberdeenshire's decision and a public inquiry was held in Kinneff at the beginning of October. The decision from that inquiry, published yesterday, upheld the appeal, so it looks as though the St John's Hill wind farm is going to be built after all.

Meanwhile, the public inquiry into the Clochnahill wind farm is still scheduled to take place at Kinneff Village Hall on Wednesday 12th December, although that will probably be a fairly short affair and a rather forgone conclusion now that BAA and Aberdeenshire Council have both withdrawn their objections.

Public Inquiry for St John's Hill

St John's Hill Ltd have lodged an appeal with the Scottish Executive against the refusal of planning permission for 9 wind turbines. The appeal is likely to take the form of a Public Inquiry. Aberdeenshire Council's planning web site has all the details, and the grounds for the appeal is here.

St John's Hill Windfarm Rejected

Following last week's site visit, the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee voted against the plan to build a windfarm behind Kinneff by 7 votes to 4 at their meeting yesterday, on the grounds that the visual impact would be too great.

Still No Decision on St John's Hill Windfarm

Yesterday's meeting of the Kincardine and Mearns Area Comittee decided to postpone their decision about the St John's Hill Windfarm until they have made a site visit to assess the visual impact for themselves.

A decision will now be made at their next meeting, on 19th September.

Windfarm gets backing of Aberdeenshire Planning

Aberdeenshire Planners have recommended the proposed windfarm at St John's Hill be approved at the meeting of the Kincardine and Mearns Area Comittee next week.

Douglas Gray, head of planning and building standards, said: "The proposed windfarm site is found to be in broad compliance with national and local policy, subject to compliance with the recommended conditions. Local environmental and amenity issues can be satisfactorily addressed at the proposed site and it represents a good opportunity for development as a windfarm, thereby making a contribution to the Scottish Renewables obligation."

Of the 738 letters sent to the planning department regarding the application, 63% were in favour and 37% against. Representative of the developers and BACKWAG will be addressing the Area Comittee on Tuesday before they make their decision.

Windmills-a-gogo

The Gordons have formally submitted the planning application for their plan to build 4 wind turbines on their farm at Clochnahill. They spoke to the community council about their plan in January this year and also put on a display in Stonehaven Town Hall so people could view and discuss the plans first hand.

The details for the application are not on Aberdeenshire's website yet, but it is mentioned in the weekly list from last Friday (12th May 2006). On the same page in the weekly list is another application, this time for 3 turbines right next door to Clochnahill at Hillhead of Auquhirie.
